Hearing Conservation

Scarano Group, Inc. offers support to all company personnel involved in your mandatory OSHA Employee Hearing Conservation Program.

Training is required annually for those employees needing baseline or annual hearing testing. Regulations list specific subjects to be reviewed annually. We have various materials and means to help you meet this requirement.

Certified technicians, upon request, can instruct on purpose, proper use, care, applicability, advantages, selection, fitting and noise reduction values of your employee’s specific hearing protection devices. They will explain the purpose for testing hearing and explain the testing procedure. The training session is also a great opportunity to discuss the state of the worker’s hearing and address any related questions about noise and hearing.

Complete testing, notification of test findings, training and counseling can be accomplished during the session.

Mobile hearing testing is conducted by Certified Audiometric Technicians (CAOHC) and is supervised by a certified and licensed Occupational Audiologist. Documentation of audiometer biological calibration checks and hearing testing booth background noise levels are provided. These calibrations and noise level checks are required for OSHA compliance.

Noise Surveys

Scarano Group provides hearing conservation services to help clients comply with the OSHA Noise Standard. Worker exposure surveys including area noise measurements, personal dosimetry, and noise mapping

Initial Determination Sound Survey: This is an extensive initial baseline survey using a hand-held sound level meter. The results of this survey identify the work areas, work practices and machinery that may exposure workers above the OSHA action level. The results can be mapped which show noise contours throughout the facility.

Dosimetry Studies: Personal sampling devices (noise dosimeters) are placed on those workers who may be exposed above the OSHA action level. Our personal dosimeters are small, discrete and have no cords to interfere with worker productivity.
